I had the opportunity to be the commercial photographer for Moventas out in Big Spring last week for a demonstration of their mobile repair unit. Apparently, when one of those big windmills breaks down, you have to take it down, hire a truck, send it to the factory and then wait to get it back. With this mobile unit, they lower the windmill blades directly into the truck and repair them on the site. It is a brilliant way to keep wind farms up and running!
You’re not imagining things. The two photos below are almost exactly the same. The first is just using the 16mm on a full frame camera. The second uses a combination of a neutral density filter and a circular polarizer along with a high F-stop to produce a slow shutter speed… and that’s why you hire professionals for stuff like this. 😉 lol
We were very fortunate to have such a beautiful blue sky to shoot under that day. Made this photographer’s job that much easier. 🙂
At the end of the shoot, I busted out the RC helicopter for some remote control aerial photography. Turned out pretty good for my lowest end system.
